This was another drawing drawn over the Christmas break. (The Iron Bull for Dragon Age Inquisition). The first drawing was a sketch I did initially to work out proportions ect and I knew I could improve it with a second try. Not only did I just redraw the sketch, but I had on my mind the research I did earlier in the year about the golden ratio.
To give my drawing more visual impact, I applied this ratio to my drawing and redrew the image with it in mind. I think the use of the golden ratio in the shading has really helped give my drawing some visual impact. The shading around the face and in the background was changed to match up with the curve and left straight lines in the ratio and the eye was moved a bit to fit into the box into the center of the spiral. I think this really helps make the eye the focal point as well as give the entire drawing a sense of rhythm and composition it did not have before.
