Digital Painting

Rather than wasting time deciding what to base my project on, I just decided to start drawing and see what developed. Something I wanted to do was improve my digital painting skill and honestly, this was the easiest thing to start doing as I could just do it sat at my computer without having to get out any other equipment. These drawings were done in my normal style without any references (Whis is why the faces both look very similar, because it is just my usual style of drawing features without any other influence). I experimented with new brushes a lot in these images to create interesting effects and vary up my brush strokes on my digital work. I really miss the texture and you feel you get with traditional media, so here I am trying to get some of that back by using different, more textural brushes. I used mainly "Pastel" type brushes in the actual rendering of the images although I did use some extra ones to overlay such as "rock" brushes, "splatter" brushes and just "weird" textural brushes to give the paintings more dimension by working over the top of the bust painting.

(I should clarify that the brushes used were not my own and were from "Deharme's" brush set on deviantart. It is free to use and is the one given to the creators art students.
